Rocky Springs
Has Signed Up with MissionFish
Do you sell on eBay? Then you can help Rocky
Springs whenever you make a sale! RSWRC has
signed up with MissionFish, the opportunity
to receive charitable donations through eBay.
Here’s how it works - If you are a seller,
you can select us and what percentage of each
sale you would like to share with our wildlife.
If the item sells, the seller gets paid by
the buyer and ships the item as always. MissionFish
collects the donation from the seller, pays
the non-profit and provides a tax receipt.
Interested in helping Rocky Springs when you
sell? Read
more here.
This is just another easy way to help the many
recovering animals here at The Center while
you go about having fun on eBay. Thanks again
for supporting our efforts.

It’s
A Wrap! 2006 at Rocky Springs
With hundreds of hours clocked by Rocky Springs’ capable
and devoted volunteers, New Jersey’s
wildlife got a second chance once again.
The year 2006 saw 427 animals and birds admitted
and cared for. Of that figure, 201 were mammals.
The most frequently admitted mammals were grey
squirrels (63), cottontails (49), opossum (24),
and fawns (21). We also accepted 3 different
kinds of bats, 14 foxes, 16 raccoons and a
variety of other animals needing care.
The birds - all 226 of them - cover quite a
variety. The largest number was songbirds -
155 of them! But we also had 41 dove patients,
7 Canada geese, 9 ducks, 6 owls, 3 hawks, 2
turkey vultures, 1 turkey, 1 swan and 1 gull.
Direct animal care is one part of what we do,
for in 2006 we also handled over 1,200 phone
calls - 3 times as many as animals admitted!
Answering these calls involves education and
in many cases, assisting concerned residents
remedy the problems themselves where possible,
such as what to do with a nest of bunnies or
birds they found, the squirrel in the attic,
etc.

Help Rocky Springs
When You Search Online
How would you like to help raise funds for
the wildlife at Rocky Springs by doing something
that you already do every day? Do you use a
search engine? Imagine that now, each time
you do a search, a penny will be donated to
RSWRC! Couldn’t be any easier, and those
pennies add up quickly the more people get
involved. And it’s simple ...
GoodSearch is a new, Yahoo-powered search
engine that is committed to helping legitimate
charities each time its supporters search online.
This is Yahoo's unique mission - to donate
half it's revenue per search to the charity
you choose. So consider this - if you choose
Rocky Springs as your charity, and search twice
a day and if 1,000 people were willing to choose
RSWRC, we could earn an estimated $7,300 per
year to help our wildlife! It doesn’t
get any better than that. Next thing you know
we’ll find one of our recovering squirrels
at our computer searching for his own menu!
Please help Rocky Springs’ wildlife
today and make your search engine GoodSearch – you’ll
get the proven, high-quality results of Yahoo
plus be making an easy, painless donation for
the animals! Just
click here to go to Goodsearch,
and type in Rocky Springs Wildlife Rehabilitation
Center in the empty box under the question
`Who do you Goodsearch for?’ and you’re
ready to go. Search on wildlife lovers, search
on!!

The Year of the Fox
2006
was a foxy year indeed, with Rocky Springs
handling a record number of foxes. Ten fox
kits found their way to RSWRC for help. Parasites,
injuries by cars, or their moms having been
killed are just some of the reasons for their
admissions.
One of our most rewarding achievements was
that of one kit who came to us just 10 weeks
old. It was obvious that his injuries were
already days old and his condition was poor.
Unable to use his injured front legs, he pushed
himself along with only his hind legs. When
brought to us, his wounds were open and infected,
and he was dehydrated and exhausted.
We proceeded with immediate re-hydration and
began medication for the infection. This treatment,
along with a proper balanced diet, saw the
little one gaining strength daily. With six
weeks of rehabilitation, this fox kit recovered
and was able to be released.
Rocky Springs is happy to report that ALL
TEN foxes were successfully treated and released.
